Do you have a firewire? Is there a firewire on your mac book? If you do then all you should have to do is go to Imovie and go something like file, capture, I have never used a mac but in windows it works that way.
Sorry to say, but what you want to do won’t happen. The screaming died down about a week after the new MacBooks were released… The new MacBooks (and MacBook Air) have no firewire port.

There is no expansion slot to add a firewire port and there is no firewire-USB converter/adapter/hub/cable thing to use USB.
You have three options:
1) Get a MacBook Pro (it has a firewire 800 port).
2) Get a Mac Mini (every other Macintosh made in the last ten years has a firewire port. Only the NEW MacBooks and the MacBook Air do not.
3) Tranfer analog with a “analog/digital bridge” from Pinnacle (Dazzle) (or Canopus) that uses USB to transfer.
